Abstract

Economic inequality and social mobility are central concerns for contemporary societies, influencing access to resources, educational opportunities, and life outcomes. This interdisciplinary review synthesizes insights from economics, sociology, and political science to examine the causes, consequences, and mechanisms of inequality and mobility. It highlights the interplay between structural factors—such as labor markets, taxation, and education—and individual agency. Two empirical graphs illustrate global trends in income inequality and intergenerational social mobility. The study underscores the importance of policy interventions to mitigate inequality, enhance equity, and promote inclusive growth.
